No bedroom is complete without a comfortable and stylish blanket — and this includes a dorm room. Having your own blanket, comforter or quilt is an essential piece of college dorm bedding and should be one of the first things that you purchase before you get ready to move.
There are a lot of different blanket types to choose from. Which one is right for you? Take a look at these tips to find out which type of blanket you’ll need for your first college dorm room:
Comforters: These are blankets that are either filled with down or a down alternative and offer a great mixture of warmth and style — especially when placed inside a great-looking duvet cover. The good thing about a comforter is that you can affordably replace your duvet cover without needing a new comforter. This is a great choice if you are going to be living in a warm climate.
Quilts: Quilts are a great choice if you want a snug and homey feel to your dorm room. A quilt will not be as thick as a comforter so it may not be a great choice by itself if you are going to school in a cold weather state. If this is the case, you may also want to add a thin blanket beneath your quilt for extra warmth.
Electric Blankets: If you know that you get cold when you sleep, you may want to consider an electric blanket. Many of today’s electric blankets are machine washable, making them easier to care for than ever.
